How to play Oasis Jam

Oasis Jam is a parking lot puzzle set behind an adobe wall at the edge of the dunes. The lot is packed with colourful cars and trucks, and every one of them points up, down, left or right. A vehicle can only drive forward, straight in the direction its arrow points. Your job is to empty the lot.

Tap or click a vehicle to drive it. If nothing stands between its nose and the edge of the lot, it drives out and is gone. If another vehicle is in the way, it rolls up to it, bumps and rolls back into its bay. A bump does not change the lot, but it still counts as a move. Cars are two spaces long and trucks are three, and both follow the same rule.

Every lot is built so that it can always be cleared with exactly one tap per vehicle. The fewer moves you use, the more stars you earn: a perfect run is three stars.

Lot sizes and stars

  • Easy: a 5 by 5 lot with 6 vehicles. A gentle start to learn how vehicles block each other.
  • Medium: 6 by 6 with 9 vehicles.
  • Hard: 7 by 7 with 13 vehicles and more trucks.
  • Expert: 8 by 8 with 18 vehicles, where long chains of blockers run across the whole lot.

Stars compare your moves with the best possible score, which is always the number of vehicles. Clearing the lot with one tap per vehicle gives three stars, a few extra bumps give two stars and anything more gives one. Using a hint limits the run to two stars. Your best score is saved for each lot size.

Tips and strategy

  • Look before you tap. Follow the arrow of a vehicle to the edge of the lot. If the line is empty, it is safe to drive.
  • Work from the edges in. Vehicles near the wall and facing it are often free, and each one that leaves opens a lane for the vehicles behind it.
  • Find the chain. On big lots one vehicle often blocks another that blocks a third. Trace the chain back to the one that can move and start there.
  • Trucks block more. A truck covers three spaces, so freeing one usually clears a lane for several cars at once.
  • Use the hint sparingly. It glows on a vehicle that can leave right now and picks the one that frees the most others, but it caps the run at two stars.

Daily lot and friend challenges

Switch to Daily to play the same lot as everyone else today, one for each size. Finishing it grows your daily streak. After a run, Challenge a friend copies a link that opens exactly your lot, at the same size, with your number of moves to beat. Undo brings the last vehicle back into the lot if you want to look at a different order, but it does not give moves back.

Frequently asked questions

Can every lot be cleared?

Yes. Each lot is generated by parking vehicles one at a time with a clear road out, so an order that clears the whole lot with one tap per vehicle always exists, and a vehicle that bumps never makes the lot harder.

Does a bump count as a move?

Yes. A blocked vehicle rolls up to the one in front of it and rolls back, so the lot does not change, but the tap is added to your moves.

What is the best possible score?

One move per vehicle: 6 on Easy, 9 on Medium, 13 on Hard and 18 on Expert. That earns three stars.

How do I play with a keyboard?

Use the arrow keys to move the highlight to a vehicle, then press Enter or Space to drive it. H shows a hint and U undoes the last exit.

Is my best score saved?

Yes. Your best number of moves is kept for each lot size in this browser, together with your stars and daily streak. Clearing site data removes them.
